What are Antioxidants

These are substances and nutrients which are found in our foods, for obvious reasons there are more contained in some foods when compared with others. Many of the food group which are now called “super foods” are said to have high antoxidant levels. Which is one of the reasons why they are called super foods because of the life giving benefits of eating them.
Scientific research is ongoing to prove or disprove the effects of taking antioxidants on a regular basis. Antioxidants are known to help fight the oxidisation of our body cells. Much like our car as it gets older, our body cells will show signs of oxidisation the effects of oxygen on there structure, weakening it to a point of breaking or destruction.
Our body even when asleep is continually working away at various process’s all of these require oxygen to work efficiently. This same life giving oxygen can cause a side effect which is the formation of oxidant’s inside us. These oxidant’s are responsible for this cell damage and they are commonly known as “free radicals”. This has a very negative effect on the body and our health in general and have been linked to several serious diseases such as certain cancers, arthritis and others besides. It has also been proven that this process also adds to the effects from aging.
Antioxidants as the name suggests help the body to fight off the effects of these free radicals. They work by binding them together forming large clumps that are not able to attach themselves to your body cells. They are then expelled out of the body in the normal way. Highest conventration of anti-oxidants is found in acai berry Australia as they are the purest form available in the supermatket today.
Besides helping to clear out the body of these oxidant’s they also help to repair the damage that many have already started to take place inside you.
